Juana Maria

Maria (1811-1853) was left alone on San Nicolas Island in the Pacific Ocean in 1835.
She was the last surviving member of the Nicoleño tribe that had been massacred and removed from the island in 1835. She was found in 1853 and brought to Santa Barbara where she died from dysentery after seven weeks.
